The Ex is een gulzige spons voor uiteenlopende inspiraties en een generator van ideeën. Een manier van in het leven staan, een ode aan vitaliteit én een uitgestoken hand. Nu gaan ze weer op weg met Brass Unbound, stuk voor stuk zwaargewichten uit de geïmproviseerde muziek. Ken Vandermark, Mats Gustafsson en Roy Paci doken al eerder op. Nu komt er jong, vrouwelijk geweld bij: Hanne De Backer, Signe Emmeluth en Guro Kvale. Tien muzikanten die het risico en de spanning opzoeken, en ver weg blijven van clichés en nostalgie. Punk as fuck. Dave Rempis, Jason Adasiewicz, Chris Corsano Rietblazer Dave Rempis is niet enkel een van de centrale muzikanten van Chicago. Hij is ook een onvermoeibare tornado van geluid en een onbevreesd vrij improvisator die al vaker opdook in de nabijheid van The Ex. Jason Adasiewicz is al jarenlang een van zijn vaste kompanen, een avonturier die zonder oogkleppen mee in het diepe duikt en uitgroeide tot de favoriete vibrafonist van wijlen Peter Brötzmann. Octopus Chris Corsano is een van de meest gelauwerde drummers binnen de experimentele muziek, of het nu is aan de zijde van Björk of Bill Orcutt.
